Importance of goal setting

Setting targets aids in the invention of new actions, the direction of your focus, and the maintenance of momentum in life. Goals also can help you focus and feel more in control of your life. Setting goals can help us improve both our mental health and our individual and career success.

Now let's discuss how do successful persons set their goals and that's why they are successful.

Step no.1    Make a list of your goals

It's the same as arranging a trip somewhere. All objectives must be written down and reviewed regularly. Divide your objectives into long-term and short-term categories. You can divide them into categories such as one-year goals, five-year goals, ten-year goals, and my ultimate goal.

Step no.2    Set Objectives for various aspects of your life

These aspects may be your health, your family, your business or job, and your trip abroad to spend vacations. Each aspect needs balanced attention to lead a balanced life. You can assign a priority sign or symbol to each target.

Step no.3    Make SMART objectives

SMART stands for:
Specific,
Measurable,
Attainable,
Realistic
Time-bound
Specific means pertaining to a particular area as we have discussed in the previous paragraph. Measurable means that you should have some key performance indicators which can measure your effort towards your goal attainment. For example, for weight loss, your can measure your waist and weigh yourself on a weight scale to check how many pounds you have lost in a specific time. Your target must be achievable by a normal human being. If you make up losing 100 pounds in a day, this is not attainable in a normal course or process. Lastly, there must be a deadline or time limit for the completion of your goal because a goal without a deadline is just a wish.

Step no.4    Write a brief plan/idea to achieve your goal

Suppose your goal is weight loss in the year 2022, now write as many ideas that come to your mind, for example, membership of the gym, diet plan, and fasting, etc. This simple practice will motivate you and will help you to focus on your target clearly.

Step no.5    Reward yourself for making progress toward your objectives.

Successful people always reward themselves for each successful step toward their destination. The progress may be little or big they use it to celebrate. The style of celebration or nature of reward may vary from person to person but it works a lot.
